সংকটে উপকূল, প্রত্যাশায় মানুষ | Coastal Crisis, Stand Behind People for their Survival

বাংলাদেশের উপকূলীয় অঞ্চল আজ জলবায়ু সংকটের অন্যতম প্রধান ভুক্তভোগী। ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান, সমুদ্রপৃষ্ঠের উচ্চতা বৃদ্ধি, ঘন ঘন ঘূর্ণিঝড় ও প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ, লবণাক্ততার বিস্তার, স্বাস্থ্যঝুঁকি বৃদ্ধি, নিরাপদ পানির সংকট এবং কৃষি উৎপাদন হ্রাস—এসব কারণে এই অঞ্চলের মানুষের জীবন ও জীবিকা আজ চরম ঝুঁকির মুখে। বেঁচে থাকার তাগিদে অনেক মানুষ বাধ্য হচ্ছে তাদের বসতভিটা ছেড়ে অন্যত্র চলে যেতে। অথচ দীর্ঘদিন ধরে উপকূলীয় অঞ্চল উন্নয়ন বৈষম্য ও অবহেলার শিকার। স্থানীয় জনগণ ও সুশীল সমাজের প্রতিনিধিরা বারবার উপকূল সুরক্ষায় কার্যকর ও দীর্ঘমেয়াদি পদক্ষেপ গ্রহণের দাবি জানালেও তাদের সেই আহ্বান যথাযথ গুরুত্ব পায়নি। এই ডকুমেন্টারিতে উঠে এসেছে সাতক্ষীরা, খুলনা ও বাগেরহাটের বিভিন্ন জনপদের মানুষের বাস্তব অভিজ্ঞতা, সংগ্রাম এবং প্রত্যাশার কথা। তারা ত্রাণ নয়, চায় টেকসই সমাধান। তারা দয়া নয়, চায় মর্যাদাপূর্ণ জীবন ও নিরাপদ ভবিষ্যৎ। নতুন সরকারের কাছে তাদের একটাই প্রত্যাশা—জলবায়ু সহনশীল অবকাঠামো, নিরাপদ সুপেয় পানি, টেকসই জীবিকা এবং উপকূলবাসীর জীবন-জীবিকার দীর্ঘমেয়াদি নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করা। উপকূল বাঁচলে বাংলাদেশ বাঁচবে। Bangladesh's coastal region stands on the frontline of the climate crisis. Due to its geographical location, rising sea levels, frequent cyclones and natural disasters, increasing salinity intrusion, growing health risks, scarcity of safe drinking water, and declining agricultural productivity, the lives and livelihoods of coastal communities are under severe threat. In search of a safer and healthier future, many people are being forced to leave their ancestral homes and migrate elsewhere. Yet, despite its immense contribution to the country's economy and food security, the coastal region has long suffered from neglect and development disparities. Repeated calls from local communities and civil society representatives for effective and long-term measures to protect the coast have largely gone unheard. This documentary captures the authentic voices, experiences, struggles, and aspirations of people from different communities across Satkhira, Khulna, and Bagerhat districts. They are not asking for relief; they are demanding lasting solutions. They seek dignity, resilience, and the opportunity to build a secure future for their families. Their message to the new government is clear: invest in climate-resilient infrastructure, ensure access to safe drinking water, protect livelihoods, and guarantee long-term security for the people living on the frontlines of climate change. Saving the coast means safeguarding the future of Bangladesh.
