Free literacy resources and materials here:https://learningreadinghub.com/free-r... The name of this program (Explode the Code) sort of already gives you a big clue on what to expect. It’s all about exploding the code, cracking the phonics code. No surprises here... Explode the code is a phonics-based program. But what is so special about it? Explode the Code is also an Orton Guilligham based curriculum. The OG approach to teaching reading was developed back in the early 20th century by Samuel Torrey Orton, a neuropsychiatrist and pathologist at Columbia University, and the educator and phycologist Anna Guilligham, to help struggling readers and students with dyslexia. Orton-Guilligham curriculums also use a multi-sensory approach to teaching reading, for a more holistic learning experience. This is probably what the Orton-Guilligham approach to teaching reading is really well-known for. In this video you'll discover how this curriculum goes about implementing the OG approach to teaching reading in practice. We will see examples taken from the workbooks, so you'll see before your very eyes what to expect. The workbooks include great activities that tick lots of boxes at the same time, and allow children work on different skills at the same time (sound awareness, phoneme manipulation, writing, decoding and encoding...) In the video, I also talk about the Teachers' guides, about their pre-reading books (Get Ready for the Code), about Beyond the Code (their reading comprehension and reasoning skills books) and much more!
