The Gambia gears up for first election after Yahya Jammeh Gambians head to the polls on Thursday for the country's first parliamentary election since the end of Yahya Jammeh's 22-year rule. Jammeh stepped aside in January after losing the presidential vote to Adama Barrow. More than 230 candidates are campaigning for 53 seats in the national assembly.
