California Legislature Business & Professions Committee Hearing - June 16th

CALSAGA President David Chandler testified before theCalifornia Legislature Business & Professions Committee on Tuesday, June 16th. He voiced the concerns of California's private security industry. The message to lawmakers is clear: we support high professional standards for security officers, but SB 1203 in its current form goes too far in the wrong direction. The bill would force employers to fund training controlled by SEIU, restrict employer-led programs that already work, and impose over $2 billion in new annual costs — putting jobs at risk and pushing licensed operators out of the market right before California hosts the 2028 Olympics. CALSAGA represents more than 400 companies and approximately 300,000 licensed security professionals across California.
