How to Measure and Cut 9" Axles

9” Axle measuring and cutting! From our C10 Build series Tech Talk Tap “SHOW MORE” below for links & parts in this video. How do you measure and cut 9” axles? You don’t want to ruin such a crucial piece, so Joe and Josh explain how to ensure a clean, accurate cut every time. The best scenario is measuring on an assembled 3rd member housing before ordering. Joe and Josh then explain which side of the third member takes the shorter axle. After lining up the axles, they explain measuring with calipers based on placement within the third member. That measurement goes onto the end of the axle to make the cut. IT IS BEST TO CUT TOO LONG! Deburr and smooth the cut, then verify fitment. Finally, Joe explains how to order if you have a housing and need to order axles.
