Belmont, The Bronx | DiverseCITY
On this edition of DiverseCITY we head out to the Belmont section of the Bronx. We learn why Arthur Avenue is now considered the “Real Little Italy” at a time when other Italian enclaves are shrinking. We explore the historical connection between Italians and the Albanians, who are making a mark in the neighborhood. We hear about St. Barnabas Hospital’s gambit to address housing as a public health crisis. Then we head over to a miniature exhibit that’s drawing big crowds to the New York Botanical Garden. (Taped: 12/11/2019 ) DiverseCITY highlights the beautiful mosaic that is New York, one neighborhood at a time. The monthly series features a bit of history, shares community issues of concern, and profiles businesses that are unique to their neighborhood. The show hopes to familiarize New Yorkers with their neighboring communities.
