A Walk in the Woods - In Bryson's footsteps on the Appalachian Trail
Over in the east of the USA, stretching between the states of Georgia in the south and Maine in the north, and spanning for 2100 miles, is a long-distance footpath called the Appalachian Trail. Every year around 3000 people attempt to thru-hike the entire distance, taking 4-6 months or longer. In 1998 Bill Bryson attempted to do the same in his book 'A Walk in the Woods'. Travel writer, author and adventurer Phoebe Smith followed in his footsteps to explore the 14 states through which it passes, and to meet the hikers, the rangers, and the people that make such an undertaking the trip of a lifetime. #AppalachianTrail
