My goal with this video is it will be the comprehensive guide on making drums perfectly edited without losing any of the natural vibe of the performance. I think that most tutorials out there demonstrating pro tools beat detective only take you about 75% of the way there. Lots of times I see them showing you how to set your triggers, place edits, quantize, and create batch fades. But I believe they are missing a HUGE part of the editing process ... Kick over Snare/Kick Over Toms. Let me explain. So first of all you have to understand that the kick drum anchors all of your other edits when it comes to editing in beat detective. You can only place one trigger on each transient at at a time, but what happens when you have a kick and a snare, or kick and a tom, hitting at the same time? I have found that most tutorials ignore this concept, and what you get is a less-than-perfect edit. You get a flaming drum sound, and in my opinion if you fix this problem you will get an over-all better drum edit/performance.
