Hellenistic kings held immense power, which was founded, above all, on their unimaginable wealth. Where did these kings reside? How was an ancient palace designed? How were they protected? This video takes you to the city of Pergamon to show what a royal residence looked like in Antiquity. This video is part of the MOOC "Discovering Greek & Roman Cities" which was produced by the Strategic Partnership "Ancient Cities", a cooperation between the Christian-Albrechts-University at Kiel, the University of Aarhus, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athen, the University of Bergen, the Open University of the Netherlands and Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.
