Benjamin Bauer is the founder and CEO of the Zollhof Tech Incubator in Nuremberg. As an entrepreneur himself, he has created Zollhof, a place where startups receive individual support and active development. The success rate is 70%, and Zollhof is now one of the leading startup hubs in Europe. Last year, Benjamin and his team founded Zoho VC—a fund that raised €10 million and has been actively investing in select deep tech startups for five years. The focus is on startups with a regional connection, including Merch Labs, the new startup from Sam Altman. Co-founder Alex Blania is from Erlangen. The regional connection is important, even though Merch Labs itself is a US company. Benjamin puts it bluntly: Anyone starting a business today needs AI as a core component.
