March 2026. The second trial concluded in the lawsuit filed by approximately half of the residents of the Tsushima district, a difficult-to-return zone in Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture, against the government and Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO). The plaintiffs' demands have remained consistent: "Give us back our hometown," and "Clean up what is contaminated." They continue to demand that Tsushima, contaminated by radiation, be decontaminated and cleaned before being returned to the land. Fifteen years have passed since the nuclear accident, and eleven years since the lawsuit was filed. Already, more than 100 plaintiffs have died. However, since the Supreme Court ruling in June 2022, a series of harsh judgments have been handed down for victims of the nuclear accident. The plaintiffs have also been compelled to overcome this since that day. The hometown that was taken from them over the past 15 years, and the hometown they still strive to protect. And the heavy hurdle of the Supreme Court ruling.
