A tire changer is the envy of privateers who race on circuits, gymkhanas, dirt tracks, drifts, and rallies. However, there are issues with power and space. While there are inexpensive manual tire changers sold by companies like Astro Products, they require anchors to secure them in place. This is a drawback in itself. I found this one on Yahoo! Auctions. By attaching a manual booster mechanism to the wheel, it requires no anchors, no power, no space, and no scratches on the wheel. It's a fantastic product for just ¥31,500. You can even change tires inside your apartment. I was able to mount rally tires by hand, but they're incredibly hard, making them difficult to remove, and the risk of scratching the wheel was a major issue. Now, I can change rally tires at home. The tires removed and mounted in the video are Yokohama A036 205/65/15 tires, designed for hard dirt surfaces. If you can mount this, you can do anything. To remove and mount the tire, you'll need a tire breaker, a tire wrench, tire cream, tire levers, tire holder, and air pump. The total set comes to about ¥40,000.
