Can I Finish on the Podium of this Difficult Rotax Race? SWS R-Sprint, Karting de Loudun, 22/03/2026

English: This was my first time back at this track in almost two years, and the last time I raced in Rotax here, I was pretty much a beginner. I went into this event expecting it to be quite difficult as I was a bit over the minimum weight limit, but I really love this circuit so I was looking forwards to racing here again. The qualifying session went ok and I made it into the top group, but I was starting near the back of it. The first race went quite well and I finished in 5th place out of 18 drivers in total, but I was not getting the final turn right and as a result, I was losing some pace going onto the main straight, so P5 was the best I could manage while still making this mistake. After debriefing the race I gained a better understanding of what I was doing wrong and how to fix it, so I was optimistic going into the pre-final race. The pre-final was a little bit more complicated than I had expected and I was pushed off the track and overtaken by three people quite early on in the race. Over the remaining laps I managed to climb my way back up to P6, but most importantly I had managed to improve the way I was taking the final turn. So despite the finishing position, I was taking a lot more confidence into the final race. I felt that finishing on the podium was absolutely possible, even though there were some incredible drivers present. I had a decent launch and managed to get up to P2 on the first lap, and thanks to my improvements on the final turn, I kept that position for most of the race, with a pretty big gap to P3. Two drivers behind me were working together using the slipstream though, and at the beginning of lap eight they had managed to close the gap and make a move on me going into turn one. They both passed me and I immediately dropped to P4, but I fought back and reclaimed P3 instantly. I worked with Kevin Thouvenin in P2 by using his slipstream and we tried to escape from David Hervoil in P4, but he stayed close enough to make another move on me in the final lap. We ended up drag racing to line and he got me by a single kart length! It was frustrating but also a great learning experience, and was thoroughly enjoyable to race on this track again in Rotax. Français: C'était ma première fois de retour sur ce circuit depuis presque deux ans, et la dernière fois que j'ai couru en Rotax ici, j'étais quasiment débutant. Je suis entré dans cet événement en m'attendant à ce que ce soit assez difficile car j'étais un peu au-dessus de la limite minimale de poids, mais j'adore vraiment ce circuit donc j'avais hâte de recourir ici. La séance de qualification s'est bien passée et je suis passé dans le groupe du haut, mais je partais près de la fin. La première course s'est plutôt bien passée et j'ai terminé 5e sur 18 pilotes au total, mais je ne faisais pas le dernier virage correctement et, du coup, je perdais un peu de rythme en arrivant sur la ligne droite principale, donc la 5e position était la meilleure que j'ai pu faire tout en faisant cette erreur. Après avoir fait le débriefing de la course, j'ai mieux compris ce que je faisais de mal et comment y remédier, donc j'étais optimiste avant la course pré-finale. La pré-finale a été un peu plus compliquée que je ne l'avais prévu et j'ai été poussé hors de piste et dépassé par trois personnes assez tôt dans la course. Au cours des derniers tours, j'ai réussi à remonter jusqu'à la 6e place, mais surtout, j'avais réussi à améliorer ma façon de prendre le dernier virage. Donc malgré la position d'arrivée, j'apportais beaucoup plus de confiance à la dernière course. Je pensais que finir sur le podium était tout à fait possible, même s'il y avait des pilotes incroyables présents. J'ai eu un bon départ et j'ai réussi à atteindre la P2 dès le premier tour, et grâce à mes améliorations dans le dernier virage, j'ai gardé cette position pendant la majeure partie de la course, avec un écart assez important sur P3. Deux pilotes derrière moi travaillaient ensemble en utilisant le courant d'arrache, et au début du huitième tour, ils avaient réussi à réduire l'écart et à me dépasser en entrant dans le premier virage. Ils m'ont tous les deux dépassé et je suis immédiatement tombé en P4, mais j'ai riposté et repris P3 instantanément. J'ai travaillé avec Kevin Thouvenin en P2 en utilisant son slipstream et nous avons essayé d'échapper à David Hervoil en P4, mais il est resté assez proche pour tenter une nouvelle manœuvre sur moi dans le dernier tour. Nous avons fini par faire des courses de dragster jusqu'à la ligne et il m'a battu d'une longueur de kart ! C'était frustrant mais aussi une excellente expérience d'apprentissage, et c'était vraiment agréable de courir à nouveau sur ce circuit à Rotax.
