Exploration of the traditional Brazilian voz e violão Luciana Souza and the album "Brazilian Duos"

Thanks for joining us on the journey at the Unconnoisseur’s of Jazz, This week we are covering Luciana Souza’s second record for the Sunnyside label, Brazilian Duos. • This album is a critically acclaimed, and a Grammy-nominated in 2003 it serves as an exploration of the traditional Brazilian voz e violão (voice and guitar) format and was named one of the top 10 jazz albums of the year by The New York Times. • Instead of a traditional jazz ensemble, Souza stripped away excess instrumentation to partner with three master acoustic guitarists Romero Lubambo: Her long-time musical collaborator with whom she has toured the world. Marco Pereira: Providing unique depth on the eight-string guitar. Walter Santos: Her father and a foundational Bossa nova figure. The project leans away from original writing to interpret classics from iconic Brazilian composers like Antônio Carlos Jobim, Djavan, and Dorival Caymmi.
