Water Gilding - American Impressionist Frame

C&J frame number C690 water gilded in 22k gold leaf. Thin coats of gliders liquor (water, alcohol and glue) are brushed onto the frame. The gold leaf is applied on top of this water using a gilders tip. As the water evaporates the leaf will adhere to the frame. Once dry it is ready for burnishing with agate stones.
