Lindsey Graham tribute: family, Vance and Schumer pay respects

Family, colleagues and national leaders paid their respects to U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Among those in attendance were Vice President JD Vance and Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer, as mourners from both parties gathered to honor the South Carolina senator who died July 11. A ceremony in the Rotunda is a rare honor reserved for those who have had a prominent impact on the country. Graham represented South Carolina for more than 23 years and was remembered for his leadership on national security, his work across the aisle and his sense of humor. His sister, Sen. Darline Graham, appointed to fill his seat, was among the family present. Mourners passed the casket one by one before it left the Capitol for the last time.
