🔹 The Brandenburg Gate is one of the most famous symbols of the city of Berlin and of all of Germany. 🔹 It is a monumental gate built between 1788–1791, in the neoclassical style, inspired by ancient Greek gates. It has 12 columns and on top is the famous Quadriga – a statue with a chariot pulled by four horses, driven by the goddess of victory. 🔹 Brief history It was built during the reign of King Frederick William II. During the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte, the Quadriga was taken to Paris (then brought back). During the Cold War, the gate became a symbol of division, being located next to the Berlin Wall. After the fall of the wall in 1989, it became a symbol of German unity. It is located in the center of Berlin, at the end of Unter den Linden boulevard, close to the Reichstag. 🔹 Why is it important?
