SHARK ATTACKS my Southern bluefin tuna while spearfishing Melbourne, VIC | INSANELY close | S1E5

Wow this is the episode of all episodes, don’t miss this one as it is one of the top crazy and scariest encounters of shark and southern bluefin tuna in one video. We are still in Queenscliff | Victoria where we launch our 3.7m tinny. We had heard from locals there were southern bluefin tuna swimming past “the rip” and we just had to give it a shot: spearfishing a southern bluefin tuna! We took the tinny from of the mouth of Port Phillip Bay and out to the open ocean for the first time of the trip. As soon as we got out to the ocean Gill seen ripples of bluefin, what could possibly go wrong spearing tuna out of the tinny? It doesn’t take long until he spears a 30kg tuna and asks for a second gun to secure the fish. In this moment Cat could not get the motor to start and this is where the drama begins. In the meantime Gill is fighting this fish by him self without any backup and all of a sudden he starts screaming: SHARK We know the south coast of Australia is the home of The Great White Sharks and you need to be careful with these animals. Which makes spearfishing and free diving the south coast a bit more scary. Gill encounters a shark attack while he is free diving in the ocean, a shark that was hungry for his bluefin tuna… Everything happened very quickly, and the shark got a massive chunk of our tuna and Gill was only lucky enough to get back in the boat quickly. It’s crazy how much the adrenaline kicks in and it’s just insane we were just in the middle of a shark attack. The shark then came up to the boat a second time giving the motor a bite and just circled the boat, this was insane and we have it all on video! We are so grateful no one got hurt accept for the tuna, but the shark got a meal out of it and we still got a lot of meat to take home and eat. Tuna is the best eating and we still enjoy this fish for dinner. We talked to some fishermen back on the jetty and they thought the shark we described was a seven gill shark, apparently they have attacked 5 humans unprovoked and can definitely be aggressive towards humans.
