This technique is particularly effective for species like bass, pike, and muskellunge that are known to strike aggressively at surface disturbances. Popping is a visual and auditory stimulus, triggering the predatory instincts of fish and prompting them to strike the lure. Successful implementation of popping requires understanding the specific behavior and preferences of the target species, as well as adapting the technique to the prevailing fishing conditions.
