Lisa Gade reviews the Honor 8, Huawei’s latest Android smartphone in their relatively affordable Honor line. This is a US-friendly unlocked 4G LTE GSM phone that supports AT&T and T-Mobile as well as many smaller carriers in the US and overseas carriers. The Honor 8 is clad in glass and aluminum and it has a 5.2” full HD display with wide color gamut. This is one of the few phones with an IR blaster AV remote control. The Honor 8 runs Android 6 Marshmallow with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1 UI. It uses their own hisilicon Kirin 950 octa-core processor and it has 4 gigs of RAM and your choice of 32 or 64 gigs of storage plus a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 128 gigs. The phone has an 8MP front camera and 12MP dual rear cameras, much like the more expensive Huawei P9. It has dual band WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, NFC and a GPS. The 32 gig model is $399 and the 64 gig model is $449. Pre-orders start August 26, 2016 and it ships September 2.
