How to prune Hydrangea macrophylla | The RHS

Hydrangeas flower from mid- to late summer on the previous year’s growth. Mophead and lacecap hydrangeas will bloom satisfactorily with little attention, but annual pruning encourages new, vigorous growth and a better flowering display.
