The diesels aren't dead. And more so as proven by the Mercedes-Benz GLC 220d which has a 48V mild-hybrid system paired with a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine. The rest of the SUV remains the same as its petrol counterpart. The 48V mild-hybrid system adds 23bhp and 200Nm to the 194bhp and 440Nm that the diesel motor produces. Not only that, the ISG also improves fuel efficiency by about 15 per cent. So can it save the diesels? Lenny D'sa finds out in the first drive review.
