You do not have to be a perfect wife — or have a perfect marriage — for God to be working in the middle of it. He was working in Leah's tears. In Hagar's desert. In Elizabeth's silent five months. In Michal's window. He does not only show up when things are going well. He shows up when the room is dark and the door is locked and you are the only one still watching. Third. And this is the one I need you to carry with you. The first human being to recognize Jesus Christ was not a king. Not a priest. Not a man with power or position or a seat at the table of history. It was a woman who had spent decades being overlooked — who had prayed faithfully into a silence that did not answer — who had walked blamelessly through years that gave her nothing visible to show for it. And when the moment came, when the door opened and the miracle walked in from Nazareth, she did not miss it. She was ready because she had been waiting. And the waiting had made her eyes sharp.
