Swinger Shutdown is a false alarm prevention and signal management feature built into most alarm systems. This feature does not come into play often when using your alarm system, but it can have some noticeable effects when testing panic buttons on your system. For the average zone, swinger shutdown just stops the panel from reporting a zone that is triggered more than 3 times in a standard arming period. However, with panic buttons, it will actually keep the panics from triggering more than a couple of times. This is because panic buttons are high-priority signals, and as soon as the initial signal is sent your central station will dispatch on the alarm. With high-priority signals like this, it stops the panel from triggering in case the cause of the trigger is not an actual panic condition. When testing panics, or just using them in general it is always advised that you trigger each panic by itself, and then put the system through an arming cycle to clear the potential swinger shutdown effect. Going through the full arming cycle of arming the system fully and then disarming it is the only way to clear swinger shutdown conditions on an alarm panel. So when testing panics just remember to do them one at a time and perform the full arming cycle. Thank you for watching!
