God's Foreknowledge and Man's Free Will

Does the Bible really say that once upon a time, "in the beginning," God knew (or, worse yet, planned) every future event of human history? If so, it begs countless questions for which there is no answer other than one that makes God a cruel psychotic. Far more intellectually and emotionally satisfying is God's answer to the above question.
