Even though the MG 4 has sold well at MG so far, the wind has obviously changed in terms of e-mobility and the formerly British, now Chinese brand seems to be able to respond to this better strategically than some of its competitors. Time and again, experts say that only those who offer a wider range of drives can be successful and MG is now showing this with the new editions of the electrified ZS Hybrid+ and HS PHEV models. And as with the electric vehicles, the two new SUVs also offer "value for money". In some cases, they undercut their direct competitors by more than 10,000 euros. However, the full and plug-in hybrid models are a long way from the once cheap Chinese models. This is also because, and this is no secret, the Chinese companies also brought experienced engineers from Germany into their team and thus knowledge and expertise. Both new MG SUVs now have a new, uniform "combustion engine face". This consists of a sloping bonnet with narrow LED headlights and a large radiator grille, flanked by airblades. This means that the T-Roc competitor ZS Hybrid+ already makes an extremely pleasing impression. Stretched by eleven centimeters to 4.43 meters and with a wheelbase extended to 2.61 meters, it offers significantly more space than its predecessor. There is now more space for passengers, especially in the rear seats. The trunk holds 443 liters, which can be expanded to up to 1457 liters with the rear seats folded down. The interior itself is also tidy and offers good all-round visibility thanks to the larger windows. The Standard, Comfort and Luxury equipment is available, which score points with plenty of comfort and safety features. The highlight of the new ZS is the full hybrid drive, which already made its debut in the MG3 Hybrid+. The "+" stands for the comparatively large battery, which at 1.83 kWh can store almost twice as much energy as usual and enables purely electric ranges of up to ten kilometers in urban traffic. The smooth running of the drive train is remarkable, combining a 100 kW electric motor with a 75 kW 1.5-liter gasoline engine to produce a system output of 145 KW or 197 hp. This means that the almost 1.5-ton vehicle completes the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, with a top speed limited to 168 km/h.
