On its surface, the river often appears calm, as if it were just ordinary water flowing slowly. However, the people who live along the Mahakam's banks know that beneath this calm lies an ancient mystery that lives in their collective memory. A legend tells of a giant creature believed to reside in the depths of the river. This creature is called… the Ox Snake.
