INDUSTRY INTERVIEW - AUTHOR / JOURNALIST - PAUL PALANGO - Talking the 2020

Today I will be talking to Author & Investigative Journalist Paul Palango and talking about his book - 22 murders, which covers the 2020 Nova Scotia attacks, which resulted in 23 people killed (including the perpetrator), and the subsequent cover-up that was engaged by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Paul Palango has been a journalist since 1974 working for the Hamilton Spectator, Toronto Sun and The Globe and Mail, where he was a reporter, Sports Editor, Metro Editor and National Editor, where he supervised investigative reporters for five years. That work was recognized with a Michener Award in 1989. A graduate of Carleton University, he is the author of five books about the RCMP: Above The Law (1994); The Last Guardians (1998); Dispersing the Fog (2008); 22 Murders (2022) and Anatomy of A Cover-Up (2025), the last two instant Canadian national Number One best sellers. Palango is a frequent commentator on policing issues in Canada and since 2021 has co-hosted weekly podcasts largely focused on policing. In the current iteration of the podcast, Dispersing the Fog, his co-host is Nova Scotia lawyer Adam Rodgers. The show can be viewed on YouTube and accessed on other podcast providers. Since 2001, Palango and his wife, Sharon McNamara, have operated Kiln Art, a company that wholesales and retails their hand-made fused glass art and dinnerware. They reside in Chester Basin, Nova Scotia. DISPERSING THE FOG and ANATOMY OF A COVER-UP After 22 people were murdered during a 13.5-hour rampage over two days in Nova Scotia by denturist Gabriel Wortman, dressed as a police officer and driving a replica police car, author Paul Palango immediately sensed that there were significant holes in the official narrative about what had happened. While the mainstream and much of the alternative media appeared to accept what the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and government officials were saying, Palango first tried to help reporters and editors understand how, based upon his vast knowledge of the history and operations of the police force, they were being subtly misled about the truth. Rebuffed by the media, he began his own investigation, which was soon joined by independent citizen investigators. Together they uncovered stunning evidence that showed that the police and government were lying about many important aspects of the story. Why? Over a 140-day period, Palango wrote the almost 600-pages of 22 Murders, to put on the public record what he and his citizen investigators had found. The book was published just as a public inquiry into the matter, the Mass Casualty Commission, began to hold its hearings. Palango had hoped that the commission would answer the last question he asked in 22 Murders: “What’s the Big Secret.” When the Commission tabled its report in March 2023, not only had it not answered that question, it had also buried and distorted a trove of valuable evidence that contradicted the official narrative. Palango and his citizen investigators then combed through the millions of words, photographs and graphs contained in the final report and he published Anatomy of A Cover-Up in 2025. In that book Palango proves that the main pillars of the official narrative were concocted or false — a Cover-Up conducted in plain sight. For example, he could show that using the RCMP’s own evidence, the force likely accidentally shot Corrie Ellison, one of the victims; a supposed gunfight between RCMP constable Heidi Stevenson never happened before she became the gunman’s 20th victim; and that the circumstances of the police shooting of Gabriel Wortman was essentially a police execution. Having proven that the official narrative was essentially false meant that there must be another truth. What is that truth? Gabriel Wortman was in all likelihood a long-time paid police agent who felt wronged by the RCMP and did what he had done to get his revenge on the force. Want to create live streams like this?
