Today, June 16, the Church officially raises Mother Carmen Elena Rendiles Martínez to the altars. This woman from Caracas, born in 1903, is the third Venezuelan to be beatified. At just 13 years old, she decided to dedicate her life to God and in 1946 founded the "Servants of Jesus" congregation in Caracas, a work that has impacted thousands of people. In 1994, Pope John Paul II named her a Servant of God, and in 2013 Pope Francis declared her venerable after confirming her heroic virtues.
