The battleship Musashi was discovered on the seabed off the coast of the Philippines 70 years after the end of the war. Of the 2,399 crew members, approximately 450 were able to return home. The program director, whose father was one of those "survivors," had barely heard anything about the war, as his father passed away six years ago. However, an audio recording of the father talking about the war was discovered. The recording was made during interviews by author Masami Tezuka, author of "The Battleship Musashi," and runs for approximately 25 hours. The recording covers everything from his upbringing to attending the Naval Academy to the postwar period. Using the recording, we trace "my father's war" to Tokyo, Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, the Philippines... The program traces "my father's war" and brings to light this brutal history.
