VELINTONIA | Poetas vuelven a la casa de Vicente Aleixandre 40 años después

There's a for sale sign hanging on a balcony that no one looks through anymore. Below, the vegetation struggles to become jungle and escape the walls, and the humidity writes the passage of time in a dead but not forgotten language. People walking down the street on their way to the hospital or school ignore the old facade, although occasionally a curious person stops (there are still curious people in the world) and says, "It's here." The green gate creaks as it opens. There's rust on the window bars, on the pipes, on the screws. The steps leading to the door are cracked. It could be any portal to oblivion, but a plaque directs us: "The Association of Spanish Writers and Artists, to the honorary member Vicente Aleixandre, Nobel Prize in Literature 1977. Madrid, April 26, 1985." This is Velintonia, the mecca of 20th-century Spanish poetry, now an abandoned place, but not yet a ruin. 🔤 Don't miss a story, subscribe to our channel 🤝 https://www.youtube.com/@ABC_es?sub_c... ✍️ Follow the latest news live: https://www.abc.es/directos-abc/ 📰 All the information on ABC: https://www.abc.es/ 📲 Want more? https://bit.ly/3KKmZvd #velintonia #vicentealeixandre #spain #documentary #poets #generationof27 #poetry #abandonedhouse #jaimesiles #antoniocolinas #aleixandre #javierlostalé #communityofmadrid #madrid #culture Visit our social media 🤳 🐦 Twitter:   / abc_es   ⬛ TikTok:   / abc.es   📸 Instagram:   / abc_diario   🟦 Facebook:   / abces
