Dumji 2020

Dumji Festival celebrates and honors the anniversary of Guru Rinpoche birth on the lotus flower. Lama Sangwa Dorji, Lama Ralwa dorji and Lama khenpa dorji are the founder brothers of the earliest monastery of Khumbu and they were the first to start the Dumji festival in Pangboche, Thame and Rimijung monasteries about 365 years ago in order to coincide with the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpoche. The festival serves as a religious and community duty to help bring the villagers together. Every 15 years it falls upon eight families to provide food and drink for the entire village for the duration of celebrations, which lasts for 4 days. Thame dumji festival is performed by the Monks from thame monastery under the presidency of thame tulku ngawang thinley palbar with apperarance of lama jangbu(gendukpa lama), lama Ngawang chhuldim(kerok lama), lama Tenzing thinley(chharok lama)and senior monk of thame gomba in the month of july in thameteng.Here I have tried to present an important part of thame dumji"thye" through this short video. Thye is to carry rice from organizer's house to monastery to distribute to villagers attending to celebrate dumji festival.On this day all supporters, relatives and friends of organizers gather at organizer's house and carry rice and others to monastery singing and dancing. THAME DUMJI 2020....!!!!!!!! I ,as organizer for 2020,would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all supporters, friends , relatives for supporting me to make enjoyable and successful dumji in this situation .
