Fly Tying The Barker Buzzer
The Barker Buzzer, well this is what I call it. It is a rather simplistic pattern that was passed to me some twenty years ago by my pal Ronnie Christie. He got given it after taking a bit of a kicking in an AMFC (Affiliation of Major Flyfishing Clubs) match from Dave Barker. Where the patterns origins lie I don’t really know. Al Owen ties a very similar pattern that is regarded by many as the only buzzer you will ever need! I have had success with other Buzzer patterns but I always seem to come back to this one. Can be tied on straight shank hooks as well. It has worked particularly well on Rutland Water.
