LAKE FULMOR | Idyllwild, CA

"LAKE FULMOR" Almost 10 miles North of Idyllwild, this small artificial lake formed by earthen dam on Indian Creek in the San Jacinto Mountains of Riverside County. Located just off CA Highway 243, it sits at an elevation of 5,300 ft. It is 0.5 mile moderately trafficked loop trail and a tranquil place to visit. Open for day-use, with many picnic tables available for the whole family to enjoy. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on leash. A dam was built in 1947 to create a reservoir and collect water to use in the construction of the California Highway 243. It is named after A.C. Fulmor, the county surveyor who surveyed the road route in 1933-34. You will need to display an Adventure Pass when parking at the designated parking lot across the lake. Fishing is allowed with valid CA fishing license, and the lake offers different species of fish including rainbow trout, largemouth bass and even blue gills. No swimming on the lake. Other attractions include different wildlife like butterflies, dragonflies, turtles, wild ducks and even crawfish. There are benches to sit and relax on including in the wooden pier.
