Today we remember the life of legendary South African actor Seputla Steez Sebogodi, a talented performer who entertained the nation for more than four decades. Seputla Sebogodi was born on 31 October 1962 in Pretoria, South Africa. He was an actor, theatre performer, director and gospel singer. Throughout his career, he became one of the country's most respected entertainers. He was best known for playing Kenneth Mashaba on Generations, a role that made him a household name. He also appeared in popular productions such as Bophelo Ke Semphekgo, Rhythm City, Scandal!, The River, Suburban Bliss, and the international film The Woman King. Away from acting, Seputla loved gospel music and released several gospel albums. He also mentored young actors and dedicated much of his life to theatre. Seputla was a father of four children, including actor Thapelo Sebogodi, who followed in his father's footsteps. Sadly, Seputla Sebogodi passed away on 15 July 2026 at the age of 63 after complications related to diabetes, according to his family. His passing left South Africa mourning the loss of one of its greatest television legends. His talent, wisdom and unforgettable performances will continue to inspire generations to come.
