كل ما تريد معرفته عن الاميلوبلاستوما وأورام الفكين Ameloblastoma

Ameloblastoma is a tumor of the jaw that originates from the enamel layer of the teeth. Its pathological picture is similar to many jaw tumors. Dr. Mohamed Adel, a consultant in head and neck oncology and endocrine surgery, explains the concept of ameloblastoma, the method of diagnosis, and the stages of treatment. How important are restorative or reconstruction procedures in the treatment of jaw cancer? Reconstructive and reconstruction procedures ensure that the patient overcomes many of the morphological and functional damages resulting from jaw cancer removal. If these procedures are bypassed due to the patient's circumstances or the lack of medical resources and personnel, the patient will continue to suffer from some of the negative effects and consequences of the tumor removal procedure. The most important of these are: Only one side of the jaw (the healthy side) is used for chewing, which can lead to rapid tooth weakening and damage. Social anxiety and a desire for isolation due to the obvious facial deformity. Psychological impact due to the loss of the jaw and teeth over time. The mouth gradually begins to stiffen and shrink due to the lack of a solid structure to maintain tissue cohesion. This can lead to increasing difficulties with speech and other functions. Also, one of the negative consequences of skipping or delaying jaw reconstruction surgery is the difficulty of performing this surgery later when functions are severely affected and there is an urgent need for it. In such cases, the surgeon may resort to performing the surgery in more than one stage. What is microscopic surgery, and how does it benefit oncology patients? The use of the microscope is a significant development in the history of surgery, introducing many applications to the science of surgery that would not have been possible without it. Some may think that the use of the microscope in surgery is related only to certain eye or nose and ear surgeries. However, the uses of the microscope have expanded greatly over the last two decades to include almost all areas of surgery. The microscope is used in many oncology surgeries, enabling the surgeon to precisely remove tumors while preserving the surrounding tissue. Examples of the uses we apply include: Tissue grafting (flaps) to compensate for tissue loss after resection. After the total removal of the tumor, the surgeon replaces the excised area with tissue (including muscle, bone, and sometimes skin) and transplants it to the excised area. The tissue is then replenished by connecting arteries and veins under the microscope. All of this has led to a reduction in the effects of surgery on the patient, restoring the normal shape and size of the area after resection, and restoring a significant portion of function. A clear example of this is bone grafting. To compensate for the removal of the jaw, which later enables the patient to regain jaw function, as the patient becomes ready to have crowns and teeth that enable him to chew. In addition, the face returns to its natural shape, as it becomes difficult to notice the effects of the surgery.
