The Euclid Beach North Tonawanda 82 Keyless Band Organ In Restoration

For Historical Purposes; Here is early footage of the ex Euclid Beach Park Carousel Band Organ in restoration (circa 1980's) after it's acquisition from "House on the Rock" in WI., (where it never actually played). Originally manufactured by the North Tonawanda Musical Instrument Works, North Tonawanda, N.Y. as a spooled paper roll driven organ circa 1909-1911. This organ and it's twin sister organ were purchased directly by Euclid Beach Park, Clevland Ohio, for it's amusment ride operation. - The original video footage (some of which is included here) was created by the then owner John Daniel, after it's restoration by Mike Argain. The organ has since been re-united with its original carousel (PTC #19) at Case Western Reserve Museum in Ohio, courtesy of the Vince Aveni family. Please excuse the poor audio on this early footage. The decibel output of this massive organ was apparently too much for the early movie camera of the time. My own memories of this organ were from riding to it in the 1950's hearing BAB Style "A" 46 "Keyless" rolls playing 40's and 50's tunes. Even with the maintenance neglect of the period, those unique organ tones still reverberate through my mind, especially the deep wonderful bass. The facade shown here was also a dark stained wood color instead of the bright ornamentation as shown. The new painted oval panels had yet to be applied to the facade as of this filming but the mirrors are present. Only one of three known existing samples of this largest style North Tonawanda,.this organ (as well as its Euclid Beach "Flying Ponies" sister organ in another IL. collection) is still being powered by its large mechanical pump. The organ consists of 293 pipes, bass drum, snare drum, bells, and triangle. The 87 hole tracker bar plays original 82 key arrangements (later days BAB "Style E" rolls) made for this rare style organ which had been converted down in it's early days by Euclid Beach to play the more available but less capable 46 Keyless BAB "Style A" rolls. A 'rollography' exists online for both these style of paper rolls at: https://8ttirollography.net/wp49/ Video Guide: Points in this video: 00:00:20 Millionaires March 00:02:54 Organ Close Up Tour 00:04:40 Room Tour 00:05:52 Lustspiel Overature 00:06:20 Organ Close Ups (Including Rear) 00:10:40 Admiration Waltz 00:14:15 Kiss Me Again 00:18:09 Roses From The South (and one of the best carousel tunes on the tape.
