Discovery 3/4 Diff fill levels | Measured amount or fill to spill?

Land Rover specs call for a measured amount of oil for the diff fills, but this amount is not at the level plug. So how much below the level plug is the measured amount and how much extra oil is required to fill to spill at the level plug? Is the extra oil likely to create issues?
