Hands on with the International HV Series | FE Unscripted

The refreshed International HV Series has a ton of standout features that Andy Hanson, vocational marketing director at International, was quick to point out during his walk-around, but let's not overlook the International S13 powertrain in a vocational application. During a recent press event, FE got its hands on everything from what's under the hood, to the newly designed hood to every other component refresh. The HV Series' aforementioned sloped hood and a panoramic windshield aims to boost visibility across construction, utilities, and local government jobsites. The truck traversed the rugged terrain powered by the International S13 Integrated Powertrain, tuned for vocational applications. The engine touts the removal of components like the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) cooler and diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to eliminate the need for active regeneration, while the T14 automated manual transmission is equipped with crawler gears to handle heavy loads in confined spaces. Additional enhancements, like galvanized frame rails, offer improved corrosion resistance, while weight reductions further boost operational efficiency. Driver comfort and safety are prioritized with features such as LED headlamps and under-hood lighting, improving visibility and ease of use during low-light inspections.
