I'll try to provide the bare minimum, a simplified summary, in simple terms, so that even someone with no mechanical engineering experience can navigate this topic. Today we'll discuss the properties of gears, explore their design features, learn what an involute gear is, and learn how to calculate the gear ratio. I'll also tell you how to design the right gear without a bunch of formulas, tables, and GOST standards. Along the way, I'll draw an involute gear according to all the rules of the TMM and propose a simplified alternative. We'll also make a bunch of gears with subscribers in our carpentry workshops. We'll assemble working gearboxes.
