Both of these mics are fabulous, some of my favorite microphones you can get for this price range. BUT they perform best in completely different settings. Unlike the Rode NT1a, the Rode NT1 has a very different frequency response than the AKG c214. ALSO unlike the AKG c414, the c214 isn''t as flexible.
