Dad Artane
This is a recording made by Tom Alford around 2004. It was then transcribed into a statement that was submitted to the Irish Governments investigation into industrial schools. Tom traveled to Dublin, from the South of England and was one of the oldest people to appear in front of the commission. He went into Artane at the age of seven, after his mother pass away. He spent around 7 to 8 years in Artane, his time in there affected him all his life, he never forgot. He was one of Seven children, his younger brother ended up in Artane and his two sisters went into a convent school, Dublin. Tom passed away in 2016 at the age of 91.
