'I wasn't sure I was going in the right direction' #creativeshift
Like many artists, Cathy has been creative throughout her life, not only painting but sewing and knitting too - she no longer compartmentalises these individual elements but considers them part of her creative practice as a whole. Cathy joined my course, CREATIVE SHIFT after deciding that she wanted her art to change, it was already beginning to change and she was keen to explore the changes on a deeper level. After working through a module which focuses on 'materials + processes', Cathy tried out some new mediums and adopted a playful approach. The course gave Cathy an artistic roadmap and she continues to return to the 'tools' shared throughout the course. ---------- My 10 week online course, is an exploratory journey into yourself and your creative practice. I developed the course after becoming acquainted with the sticky areas of my own practice! The feelings of frustration (and procrastination!) would trip me up time and time again.Through deep reflection of my own creative path, I created a structure which provides a step by step process for understanding your own work and its uniqueness. I figured out that with greater understanding around each element of my process, it became easier to navigate the shifts - so I now have a framework which I use each time my work evolves. I've shared my framework with many artists and have seen so many wonderful ‘shifts’, both on a personal and practical level. It isn't your average painting course, in fact, we don't paint at all - or at least I don't (artists are welcome to maintain their own creative practices). A series of modules, guided conversations, prompts and exercises (encouraged but not compulsory!) invite you to explore all areas of your work and processes. We scratch under the surface, we seek out the what's and why's behind your art making! And here's the good news... That's where the magic is! That's the key to creating work that's unique to you. ---------- You can find more details about the course at: https://www.sally-anneashley.com/crea...
