John Ford of the Strawbs returned to the PWPL on Friday, December 8th for a special SoundSwap holiday performance live in the facility's Lapham Room. The band played some seasonal covers as part of a set list which also included songs from the Strawbs' hit albums 'Grave New World', 'Bursting At The Seams', and 'Settlement', as well as pieces from 'The Magic Of It All', the band's album that reached the Top 20 in the British charts in 2023. They also performed songs from John's latest (as of March, 2024) solo release, 'Life In A Foreign Town'. As a member of the Strawbs, Ford co-wrote the band's chart topper, "Part Of The Union," and also charted in the 70s with Hudson Ford’s hits, "Pick Up The Pieces," "Burn Baby Burn," and "Floating In The Wind." Ford was also a member of The Monks, whose Bad Habits album attained double platinum status in Canada. The John Ford Band also performed at the Strawbs' three day 50th anniversary event in 2019 at the Strand Theater in New Jersey, where the 'Grave New World' album was performed in its entirety for the first time. Ford had recently returned from a U.K. tour with the Strawbs that included co-founder Dave Cousins. The band's last-ever live performance (as of March, 2024) at the 2023 Cropredy Festival in England took place in front of 22,000 fans.
