From “Taking Our Jobs” to “Dirty Indians” - Why the World Is Turning on Indians

A new anti-Indian sentiment is rising across the world - especially in countries where Indians, NRIs, H-1B workers, students, and Indian-origin families have become more visible and successful like Indians in USA, Canada and UK. For decades, Indians abroad were mostly criticized with one line: “They are taking our jobs.” But now the narrative is changing. From social media comments to public meetings in places like Frisco, Texas, Indians are increasingly being targeted not just for work or immigration - but for culture, food, neighborhoods, festivals, behavior, and identity. Recent incidents and online debates show how quickly the conversation around Indians abroad is shifting from competition to being made to feel unwelcome. In this video, I talk about my own early NRI experience in corporate America - from carrying Indian lunch to work, to understanding how immigrants silently adjust themselves in a foreign culture. Then we look at the bigger question: Why are Indians suddenly being targeted abroad? Is this racism, backlash, self-reflection, or the natural result of scale? And how should normal, hardworking, law-abiding Indians and NRIs think about this new global narrative? This is not a hate video. This is an honest conversation about the changing image of Indians abroad — the good, the bad, and the uncomfortable truth. But the answer is not shame. The answer is awareness, dignity, self-correction, and confidence.
