After walking along the fortress walls and gazing at the Geumgang River and downtown Gongju, I headed to the vibrant Gongju Sanseong Market. Inside the market, I tasted the famous Gwangjang Sundae and leisurely explored the old alleys and shops. Next, I walked along Jemincheon Stream, enjoying the gentle sound of water, the scenery of the alleys, a photo zone featuring writings by poet Na Tae-ju, and the evening night view. I took a brief break at Ajussi Coffee, which overlooks Jemincheon Stream, enjoying a refreshing drip coffee. Looking back at the Jemincheon Stream path I had just walked from the window on the second floor of the small cafe, the simple and comfortable atmosphere of Gongju felt even closer. Next, we visited the Tomb of King Muryeong and the Royal Tomb Garden. In the exhibition hall, we examined the Baekje royal tombs, the Envoy Painting, gilt-bronze shoes, and splendid ornaments. We also explored the story of the tomb's accidental discovery and a space recreating the interior of the actual tomb. After finishing our tour of the Royal Tomb Garden, we strolled down a quiet forest path, visited a famous restaurant in Gongju for dinner, and stopped by Bammaeul Bakery, famous for its chestnut pies. Then, we drove on our way to Buyeo. We wrapped up our long day at the tranquil Wolhamji Hanok in Buyeo. This is a one-day trip to Gongju and Buyeo that captures everything from the scenery of Gongsanseong Fortress, the flavors and people of the market, the sentimental alleys of Jemincheon Stream, the Tomb of King Muryeong and the Royal Tomb Garden where Baekje history comes alive, to a comfortable night in a Buyeo Hanok.
