The Public Service Commissioner has been called in to investigate a $33 million immigration tech project, which was never delivered. The Biometric Capability Update was launched back in 2018 and run by MBIE. But today, a Select Committee heard that it had been abandoned, that officials lied to the Minister about its scope and budget, and that it moved on anyone who questioned its viability.
