Marty Huggins – a rather naive person, working as the director of the local tourist center, is used as a political tool by two rich brothers (Motch Brothers) to protect their economic interests (such as wanting to develop factories, bringing in Chinese workers) in the election area. The race develops in a “dirtier and dirtier” way: Marty is “retouched” to become a credible enough candidate for the public. Cam and Marty both use dirty tricks: dark advertising, exposing mistakes, spreading false news, even personal scandals, family life is dragged into it. In the end, Marty discovers that he is being taken advantage of, abandons the support of the rich; Cam gradually realizes that his behavior is harmful; in the meantime, the public and the election scene react to the scandals and fraud.
