Studying jewellery in Rome: part three 🇮🇹✏️

🎨 I spent the whole of this July in Rome, seeing and making art, and this is the third of four parts telling the story. I feel so lucky that my university, UAL, awarded me this grant to study abroad for the summer as part of their #artsabroad programme, but I also know I earned myself a place on their competitive programme, and I squeezed absolutely everything I could out of it! 💎I chose to study jewellery design at IED for three weeks, as I successfully created a 3D project earlier on this year and wanted to keep expanding my skills out of my comfort zone. 🎬 This is third of four parts in the series documenting my experience! 🔨 I had the honour of being given three weeks of workshops in goldsmithing by world-leading goldsmither Paolo Mangano, leading me to build the skills to make a brass and copper hairpin in the design of my drawing of two cuddling rabbits (the same drawing my picture book is based around!). 💍 I was taught the art of wax jewellery making by Enza de Pinto, which is how I managed to make a solid silver ring in my same design.
