Who was William Tyndale? (The illegal Bible translator)
We hop off the continent for the next few episodes to look at the reformation in England and look at the life of controversial Bible translator, William Tyndale. Tyndale was born in England and was taught in the Catholic school of thought and even tutored as a Catholic. However, William Tyndale became so convinced that the Bible was the highest authority that one could submit to and that the Pope didn't hold the highest right to interpret the Bible. Forced to flee England after Henry VIII sought his head, Tyndale found refuge in Belgium where he translated the Bible and flooded England with his English the translation, the "Tyndale Bible."
